I stumbled upon the practice of contrast showers a few days ago. To put it dramatically: It has changed everything! Contrast showers are a type of hydrotherapy. The only thing this practice consists of is alternating between hot and cold water in the shower. I know. When I first heard about it I said, "No one is going to get my black tale into a cold shower!" However, since I claim to have an open mind, I had to try it. The cold water isn't so bad when you are expecting it. When you are done, you feel totally renewed and refreshed.
There is actually a reason you feel this way.
Quote: "Higher temperature dilates the vessels and encourages the flow of lymph and blood. As the result, toxins can be eliminated in areas where the circulation of these fluids had been sluggish. Heat also boosts body functions such as our metabolism and heart rate, and subsequently stimulates our body processes, and thus enhancing detoxification. When cold water is applied afterward, the vessels constrict and squeeze the fluids and toxins to move along for excretion." -http://www.detoxbodydetox.com/
This shower is good for recovery after a workout or just to feel fresh and rejuvenated in the morning. If you are pregnant, or have an illness, check with your doctor before trying this. There is a list of conditions on this webpage: http://www.vsnaturopathy.com/Shower.html
Thanks for reading! Now go take a shower!!

I've never really done the research on this from any credible sources, I've just been doing it this way for years now. I start with a hot shower to really open the pores; keep it hot while I'm shaving (shaving IN a hot shower lends to a better shave since your skin is hot/expanded). So once I'm done with the shaving and a light soapage--its time for a cold rinse...and yea, finishing off with the cold rinse is fantastic! Shocking, yea, but by the time you've shaved and washed, its a welcome change. I generally go down to full cold water in 2-3 steps...but its awesome...thanks for this article..very nice.
Thank you for sharing your personal experience with us. We appreciate it. :)
Hmmm, sounds really interesting. I will give this a go in the summertime, its winter in Aus - no fun at all. haha
When does summer begin and end in Aus?
